COURSE WORK
The works in this portfolio represent a journey of academic and creative exploration, completed during my university degree. Each piece signals a step in my evolving design perspective, with more innovative creations to be added soon.
Third Year, Marketing
Reflecting on my internship at Stefan Hair Fashions, I immersed myself in social media marketing, content creation, influencer management, and content shoots. This experience taught me the importance of understanding our audience and supporting decisions with data. I gained valuable insights into market research, allowing me to effectively navigate the ever-changing algorithms and trends of social media platforms.
Second Year, Fashion
Tasked as the creative director and chief designer of Charles James, I undertook the task of reviving a dormant fashion label, infusing it with a modern sensibility while honouring its rich heritage and values. For our limited Autumn/Winter collection, I meticulously researched the brand's history, aesthetic, and core values, integrating contemporary trends and ethical considerations. The resulting collection showcases a harmonious balance of innovation and the brand's DNA.

Second Year, Design
In a group project, we created the zine 'Neo Kosmos,' exploring the intersection of fashion and technology to envision future bodies and identities. In my individual reflection, I delved into the transformative impact of post-humanism on my perception of fashion, highlighting its potential to push the boundaries of design and societal norms. This project has been both personally empowering and professionally enriching, providing a foundation for innovative and inclusive fashion design.
Second Year, Fashion
For the fashion research portfolio, I curated 6 to 8 annotated images to explore the progression of women's fashion from the 1950s to the 2000s. This collection highlights how fashion both reflected and influenced societal expectations and gender norms. Women's fashion during this period oscillated between embodying societal elegance and challenging its constraints, shaping feminine identity within often rigid and sexualized parameters. This project deepened my understanding of fashion as a complex form of social commentary, paving the way for future work in creative direction and editorial fashion.
Second Year, Design
In a group project, we developed the Creative Direction for a fashion editorial zine titled 'Neo Kosmos.' Our theme explored the intersection of fashion and technology to envision future bodies and subjectivities. Inspired by post-human discourse, we delved into the deconstruction of gender in a utopian future where alien and human boundaries blur.

"Innovative possible designs for QUT’s campus of the future addressing childcare, waste management and the protection of native bees have won QUT students Gabrielle Renwick, Ethan Frawley, and Ruby Moehead United Nations Association of Australia Global Goals for Sustainable Development awards.

Ruby Moehead, third-year Bachelor of Business (Marketing Major) / Bachelor of Design (Fashion Major), was unable to attend the event but was named winner of the United Nations Association of Australia Young Professionals Award for Innovation. Her Waste Management Bio Bins concept outlines a vision in which by 2050, the QUT Kelvin Grove campus could implement a comprehensive design solution using AI technology to differentiate food waste and packaging.
Ruby’s concept would see food waste subjected to biomass gasification to convert it into electricity to power campus infrastructure, and physical organic wastes transformed into fertiliser for a community garden overseen by the QUT Student Guild."
First Year Fashion
The scenario for our latest assignment was to develop four designs to be selected by Comme des Garçons for a capsule collection at Dover St Market. My design showcased innovative silhouettes with detailed craftsmanship. The first bespoke garment, featuring reimagined features of the classic button-up shirt, highlights my expertise in pattern-making, fabric selection, and sewing, set for a high-profile launch.
Building on the inspiration from my previous assignment, I created four half-scale toiles, each representing a natural development and continuation of my initial creative thought process. These toiles showcased my evolving design skills and artistic vision. From there, I selected one and skillfully transformed it into a full-scale toile, demonstrating not only refined sewing techniques but also the maturation of my creative journey.

First Year, Fashion
Tasked with the challenge of exploring drape, shape, and volume, I developed three distinct designs, each pinned and modeled on a half-scale mannequin to demonstrate these dynamic elements. These creations were then meticulously illustrated to reflect my chosen theme, showcasing a harmonious blend of artistic interpretation and design innovation.
